Airline

Etihad is to recruit 100 cabin crew in Ireland. Positions will be based in Abu Dhabi and will have pay packages amounting to about €40,000 a year tax-free and subsidised accommodation. Irish Times 7 October

Galway Airport is to reduce its workforce by 70 per cent, following the decision by Aer Arann to suspend flights to and Galway. Irish Times 21 October

Business/finance

Certus, which manages Bank of Scotland Ireland loans, is to take on 50 staff. Most positions will be based in Dublin and will primarily be in retail debt management and collections, but there will also be roles in commercial banking and operations. Business and Leadership, 28 October

Global hedge fund administrator HedgeServ, based in Dublin, has announced 300 jobs. IDA 25 October

Payment services provider Realex Payments is creating 50 jobs. The new roles will be in customer service, product management and IT, and will be mainly based in Dublin. Irish Times 21 October

Specialist business information company Glass, Lewis & Co has announced plans for a new office in Limerick creating up to 15 jobs in the first year. RTE 18 October

Co Clare-based EFG Inflight Catering has announced that it will create up to 50 jobs between a planned new retail centre in Bunratty and the existing centre in Shannon. RTE 14 October

IT Alliance Group is recruiting for 110 positions. The company is primarily looking to recruit project management specialists and NET and Java developers. Business & Leadership 14 October

Ernst & Young is to hire more than 300 people across Ireland in the next 12 months. Recruitment will be for various roles, ranging from graduates to qualified accountants and senior executives. Business & Leadership 13 October

Dublin based Health insurance company Allianz Worldwide Care is to create 130 new positions relating to claims, helplines, client services; finance, marketing, and project management. RTE 10 October

Aviva has announced it is to make 950 people redundant over the next two years. RTE 20 October

Electronics

Alps Electric Ireland, manufacturer of electrical components for the car industry, has confirmed that between 30 and 40 people are to be let go at its plant in Cork. RTE 14 October

142 jobs are to go in Clonmel after electrical contractors group JRE Group ceased trading. RTE 11 October

General

Almost one company in four is planning to take on new staff in the next three months, according to a new business sentiment report by IBEC. The report also says that half of all those companies surveyed are planning to retain all the staff they have over the coming quarter. Irish Times 10 October

30 of the 44 graduates who were placed in small and medium-sized businesses by InterTradeIreland last year have been offered full-time jobs. The agency, which promotes trade links between businesses across the island, has funded and supported 300 graduate projects to help SMEs expand. Irish Independent 3 October

Almost 70 per cent of companies are set to reduce or at least freeze staff pay rates next year, according to research from IBEC. Irish Examiner 17 October

Dublin-based opticians Opticks announced 40 new jobs as part of an expansion programme. RTE 10 October

ICT

Cloud computing firm Engine Yard has chosen Dublin as its EMEA-region headquarters, creating 30 high-quality jobs over the next three years. Another 15 jobs will be created over the next two years by US telecoms company Pinger and software firm Commence Corporation is bringing 20 new jobs by opening its international centre in Dublin. Technology company Pivot Acquisition Corps is to create 100 jobs in Galway when it opens a new support centre. RTE 27 October

IT security specialist Integrity Solutions has invested in one of Ireland’s first dedicated IT security training centres, which will also see the creation of five jobs. Business & Leadership 10 October

Protection services company Netwatch has announced its expansion into the US market, creating 15 jobs in its new Boston office by the end of 2012, as well as a further 15 jobs at its Carlow headquarters. Business & Leadership 11 October

Online shopping site Gilt has opened an international customer support and shared services centre in Limerick, and is looking to recruit 30 multilingual customer service agents and finance staff. Business & Leadership 7 October

Kainos, an IT services company, plans to create more than 80 new jobs in software engineering, project management and sales in Belfast. Irish Times 7 October

Marine

A €3.5m investment under the Seafood Processing Business Investment Scheme, administered by Bord Iascaigh Mhara, is to generate 64 jobs. Meanwhile funding of €2m has also been made available for an International SmartOcean Graduate Programme to provide funding for 28 research posts. RTE 6 October

Leitrim medical devices firm VistaMed is to create 79 new jobs in R&D and the expansion of its production capacity. Business & Leadership 24 October

Games retailer Gamestop is recruiting 140 part-time seasonal sales assistants for its 55 stores across Ireland in the lead up to Christmas. Business & Leadership 11 October
