What are your main tasks in a typical week?

I do a lot of research and development and then I have a lot of meetings with the team and the different people I work on projects with.

What skills do you need to be successful in your role?

Show initiative and ambition. Show that you'll be able to find these new improvements and innovations. You also need good teamwork skills and good communication skills to work well with the team.

What do you love about your job?

Everyday is different. There are also benefits to working in a small business like Torpey, you get to see what you have achieved and that's rewarding.

How did you get into your job?

I'm on the Intertrade Ireland graduate programme. It's a very good place to start for any graduates or people in college looking for graduate roles. I just filled out the application, got an interview and got the job.

We're working with Torpey but every three months we have meetings with Intertrade Ireland to help us keep on track.

What skills should students develop if they are interested in this career?

The key skills you need in my role would be communication and your own initiative. You can develop these skills by getting involved in societies and different team and try to get into leadership roles within group projects.
