The programme helps you to develop advanced knowledge and assessment skills for your area of clinical practice.

Who is the programme for?
This programme is aimed at educationally preparing nurses to expand knowledge and skills required to undertake a comprehensive health history and perform a complete advanced physical assessment.

Aims of the Programme
We aim to give you the advanced theoretical knowledge and clinical skills to carry out a complete health assessment on patients.

What will I learn?
You will learn how to undertake a comprehensive health history and perform an advanced physical assessment in a laboratory setting and you can then apply these advanced skills in clinical practice. Emphasis on communication skills and clinical decision making is a central component of the module.

You will be able to apply these 'head to toe' assessment skills in clinical practice which will advance your career and assist with clinical decision making and holistic care of the patient.

Highly focused on advancing clinical practice. This stand-alone module is focused on developing advanced theoretical and clinical skills.

Innovative modules:
A central aspect of this programme is ensuring nurses develop the necessary assessment skills to carry out an advanced health assessment on patients. The use of clinical skills laboratories and clinical assessments provide an interactive and innovative learning experience.

The student body is drawn from a wide variety of clinical specialisms and organisations, enabling the sharing of learning and experience between you and your class members, as well as from the academic staff.

Entry requirements

• Be registered as professional nurses or midwives on a live register

• Have a primary degree or higher in nursing or a related subject, or hold an equivalent qualification

• Have a minimum of one year's post registration clinical experience on application

•Provide evidence of continuing professional development.
