Business - Finance and Business Analytics - Waterford

Postgraduate Diploma in Business in Finance and Business Analytics will be taught over one academic year and aims to enable participants to:

Develop quantitative, analytical and ICT skills to carry out data and financial analysis tasks.
Communicate and interpret the output of their analysis.
Exhibit curiosity, in a critical manner, in evaluating analysis undertaken by themselves or others.
Develop their careers within their current employment or as an initial stepping stone to a career as a financial analyst/data analyst.

The course offers students the opportunity to develop their understanding of the theories underpinning core phenomena in business analysis while allowing students to work with ‘live’ data, facilitated through the availability of the newly developed Finance Lab.

The course will be delivered in-person and on-campus in concentrated blocks. Students are required to attend lecturers on campus over 3 days, complemented with independent self-learning. The programme will be delivered using a mix of lectures and practical’s (IT lab based). Practice-based training will be central to this with candidates receiving specialised training in PL-SQL, Real Stats, Eikon, Stocktrak and Qlikviews. There is also an opportunity to be part of a broader community of graduate business students. Some of the modules may be shared with other graduate courses.

Entry requirements

The current minimum entry requirements for students to be accepted on the Graduate Diploma in Finance and Business Analytics are as follows:

Applicants must hold at least a Level 8 qualification in business/finance/economics/IT.

Students holding a non-business/IT honours degree of the type listed above are eligible to apply. However, this does not guarantee entry to the programme, applicants may be considered for interview/advising and short listing. Candidates that can display strong numeracy skills will be considered more favourably.

Documentation Needed
Images of all of your academic certificates and transcripts. [ simply take a photo of the documents with your phone ]

These will demonstrate that your either (1) meet the academic entry requirements, or (2) they will support an application made on a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) basis.

You will upload the documents to the Springboard website as part of the application process. Where you wish to have multiple documents considered you will need to merge them into a single file.

No offers of Springboard places can or will be made without the documentation in place.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Where candidates do not currently meet the formal academic entry requirements (set out on each course information page) they may be able to advance their application using the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) mechanism. RPL allows candidates to make a case that they do meet entry requirements through a combination of formal certified learning and learning through experience (most typically work experience). RPL applications must be made by filling out (please type) the Springboard RPL form and submitting it along with supporting documents such as academic certificates and transcripts etc.
