Business - Human Resource Management Stream
What is the Master of Business in Human Resource Management?
The MBS in Human Resource Management provides the student with the opportunity to greatly enhance their specialist subject knowledge, experience innovative learning methods and explore opportunities arising from innovation, change and business development. Students achieve this through participation in class activities and through involvement in a series of events including those organised by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
Our School is an accredited centre for the CIPD professional body and the MBS Human Resource Management awards CIPD graduate accreditation which is a global qualification. A key feature of this programme is that it sets the theories into a wider practical perspective, through the use of case studies, state of the art technology and visiting staff who are experienced and respected practitioners.
As part of the programme, students will:
• Engage in a business simulation management exercise where they have the opportunity to work in teams and make strategic decisions about a real-life business.
• Participate in a Dragons Den event and compete with your colleagues to attract funding for a new business.
• Travel on an International study tour programme to Brussels where you will have the opportunity to take lectures at the Irish Institute in Leuven and participate in a case exercise with other postgraduate students http://www.leuveninstitute.eu/site/index.php
• Analyse a real-life company as part of your Entrepreneurship and innovation 'live' company case study exercise. Every year students engage in case exercise involving real-life companies which are drawn from the ArcLabs Innovation Centre as well as other start-up companies from across the south east of Ireland.

Post Course Info
The central aim of the MBS in Human Resource Management is to foster and develop both the conceptual and practical skills needed to contribute, succeed and lead in the current dynamic and challenging business climate. Many MBS graduates progress to senior management in a variety of areas including industrial relations, employer agencies, consultancy and training and development.
In addition to the academic content, the course also includes elements designed to give practical employment experience, and develop professional skills. As part of the programme, students have access to WIT's Careers Management Centre and they work closely careers advisers to support them with career development from initial self-assessment through the job search and beyond.
Students benefit from a customised Seminar Series which brings together invited keynote speakers from a diverse range of businesses and public policy organisations, so that students have the opportunity to learn from industry-leading practitioners. Previous MBS students have benefited from these close links with industry and many of our partner organisations have been happy to consider our students for first job positions alongside more experienced applicants.
The course also incorporates a number of professional development workshops (including a day-long team development event at induction, an international study tour and a 'Dragons Den' competition event) during the year to extend student communication and presentation skills, enhance self-awareness, teamwork and cultural sensitivity, and allow graduates to perform effectively in organisations upon graduation.
A graduate may also apply for further post graduate Level 10 studies, such as a PhD by Research at WIT or to other third level institutions, either nationally or internationally.
