Business Management - Limerick Campus

This two year part-time programme is aimed at non-business graduates who are looking to advance their careers by achieving a qualification in business management. Business permeates through every industry sector and to progress in any organisation will demand graduates to have not only skills in their relevant fields but also the business skills to operate in an economic work place.

This programme will cover the key principles of business management and is structured to maximise student learning through facilitating students to consider the implementation of such concepts and principles in a work environment.

What will the time commitment be?
Each 5 credits will normally equate to approximately 100 Total Learning Hours. Total Learning Hours includes the time you spend in class (lectures tutorials, practical elements) and the time you spend completing work outside of college. The balance between these two varies by discipline, and by level of study. You should bear in mind that the workload will increase at particular times e.g. when assisgnments are due

Entry requirements

What are the entry requirements?
An honours degree (level 8) in a non-business or a non-cognate discipline or approved equivalent qualification.

or

A level 7 qualification in a non-business or a non-cognate discipline and at least 1 year relevant professional experience/responsibility.

Special Case Registrations: Prospective participants who do not meet the entry requirements for the programme detailed above, but who may qualify for admission by meeting certain other equivalent criteria, should apply to the Department of Flexible Learning Office for consideration.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a minimum score of 5.5 in an IELTS exam is required. For postgraduate courses, a minimum of 6.0 is required. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their English proficiency meets these requirements.

Assessment Info

Learners are assessed by means of assignments across all modules. In completing these assignments learners will be expected to apply theoretical concepts to their own individual workplace. All employer information obtained by the learner to complete assignments will be treated confidentially.

Delivery
2 years, 30 weeks per year, one evening per week, Monday evenings, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Lectures will be delivered online, either recorded or live. Recorded lectures will be supported by a weekly tutorial to allow for student dialogue and communication.

There will also be 8 Saturday Workshops (9am to 5pm) per academic year. Dates to be confirmed, delivered on campus (restrictions permitting).
