Clinical Primary Care Modules
Clinical Primary Care Modules are continuous professional development modules for general practitioners and practice nurses that are offered by the Discipline of General Practice at NUI Galway. These modules are an excellent education resource that focuses on the learning needs of a general practitioner and practice nurse working in Ireland today. The modules are taught by local clinical experts and aim to improve patient care in the community by upskilling and supporting education of the general practitioner.
Three modules are currently available: Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease in Primary Care and Women's Health in Primary Care. These modules are each three months distance learning modules with two clinical workshop days.
Professional and Practice Development
The Clinical Primary Care Modules have been designed to reflect many of the patient health care needs in general practice in today's Ireland. These modules have the main focus of upskilling the general practitioners and nurses in this area, in order to deliver an effective management plan for this patient group, and, in turn, improve patient care and outcomes. Support from local specialists who teach on the modules establishes a good link between the general practitioner, the practice nurse and secondary care. All of the three currently available modules are fully accredited by the Irish College of General Practitioners for continuous professional development.
