Contemporary Innovations in Education

Programme Description
The programme is designed to respond to the current needs of teachers and educational professionals, wishing to enrich and progress their knowledge and practice in contemporary education, teaching and learning. Students select modules which best suit their current professional, personal and/ or continual learning interests. The range of delivery modes and choice of stimulating and challenging modules on offer, affords students the freedom to fit their studies around their current professional commitments.

Programme Structure
Students shape the direction of their study on this flexible 30 ECTs programme, thereby meeting their current interests, professional needs and career aspirations.

Students successfully completing two selected modules (30 ECTs) from the options listed, will exit with a Professional Diploma in Contemporary Innovations in Education. Alternatively, students may opt to study this Professional Diploma with a specialism. This requires completion of the specialism's core module (15 ECTs) as well as one module (15 ECTs) from the remaining module options listed.

Entry requirements

This programme is aimed at a wide range of graduates working in educational settings (e.g. primary, post-primary, higher education, adult and further education).

Applicants will normally have a Level 8 Undergraduate Degree (H2.2 or above) in Education or equivalent. Graduates applying from other related social sciences or arts/humanities disciplines will also be considered.

For applicants without the relevant academic qualification, but with relevant previous experience, recognition for approved prior learning (APL) can be awarded in line with the University's Recognition of Prior Learning Policy.
