This programme is designed for holders of Graduate Diplomas in the following specialities: Critical Care–Intensive Care, Critical Care-Cardiovascular, Heart Failure Nursing, Paediatric Critical Care and Peri-Operative Nursing.

Holders of Level 8 Higher Diplomas should contact the School to discuss their options.

Programme Aims
This exciting programme will enable you to develop the knowledge and skills in advanced health assessment of the critically ill patient. You will also get the opportunity to demonstrate the importance of change in practice through the development of an innovation project which will address research questions that arise in your clinical practice.

Entry requirements

•Applicants must be registered as a professional nurse or midwife on a live register

•Applicants must be employed in clinical practice while undertaking the programme

•Applicants must have successfully completed a Graduate Diploma in one of the following specialities: Critical Care–Intensive Care, Critical Care-Cardiovascular, Heart Failure Nursing, Paediatric Critical Care and Peri-Operative Nursing.

Subjects taught

Programme Structure
This is a one (academic) year programme, broken down into two trimesters. Assessments are varied and occur at intervals throughout and at the end of the trimesters. The Dissertation will run over Autumn and Spring terms.

NMHS42960 Advanced Health Assessment (10 ECTS)

Students are required to choose ONE of the following dissertation options:

NMHS 43880 Applied Research Evidence Translation (10 credits) and NMHS43860 Diss: Evidence Translation (20 ECTS)

OR

NMHS 43890 Applied Research Evidence Synthesis (10 credits) and NMHS43870 Diss: Evidence Synthesis (20 ECTS)
