Programme Overview
For many executives who have already achieved success as a functional expert, stepping up to a wider management role can be a difficult and potentially risky transition. You will need a comprehensive toolkit in order to make this transition from specialist to generalist a successful one.
The Diploma in Advanced Management Performance (AMP) will give executives the confidence to manage the complexity you will be facing as you develop from a specialist into a generalist. In short, AMP's unique tools and insights will prepare executives to succeed in this most difficult of transitions, the point in a manager's career when they need to quickly expand their knowledge of business.
It will give executives the solid foundation to be able to go back to work able to ask the right questions and challenge your teams to think differently. The combination of theory and real-world application with an immersive learning experience makes this a very practical programme. Participants will return to their organisation with the necessary analytical skills and strategic toolkit for improving both short-term and long-term performance.
Who is it for?
The Diploma in Advanced Management Performance is designed specifically for managers and functional specialists who have a minimum of 5 years of management experience. Each group of participants represent diverse business functions, companies and industries, helping to broaden your perspective and expand your knowledge.
Managers with a minimum of 5 years' management experience;
Managers who do not have a Level 8 University Degree but have a depth of career experience;
High-potential mid-level executives ready to assume greater responsibilities;
Experienced functional or technical specialists currently transitioning towards general management;
General managers, country managers or business unit heads;
Managers of large/complex projects across teams, functions or borders
Successful participants will be awarded a Professional Diploma in Advanced Management Performance. This qualification is accredited and awarded by University College Dublin and valued at 30 credits. It is positioned at Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications.

Entry requirements
Participants should have at least 5 years management experience and hold a primary degree or equivalent professional qualification. Consideration will also be given to applicants who do not hold a primary degree but whose depth of industry/organisational experience, deems them suitable participants.

Application Procedure
A completed application form, digital photograph and copy of transcripts for all university-level degrees (if applicable and excluding those taken at UCD) will be required. A telephone interview with the Programme Director will form part of the application process. The interview helps determine whether the programme is the most appropriate educational solution for the applicant.
In-person programme - This Autumn 2022, our suite of Professional Diplomas will be delivered in-person at Smurfit Executive Development on UCD's Smurfit School Blackrock campus to facilitate the best learning experience for participants. Participants are required to attend in person. In exceptional circumstances, we may be able to facilitate an alternative delivery option but each request will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by our Programme Director & Programme Management Team

What is the MSc Pathway?
Our MSc in Business (Leadership & Management Practice) is based around a framework of ten selected diploma programmes. By completing any three of these ten diplomas, within a recommended 5-year timeframe, you will earn 90 credits (the national standard for a Masters Qualification) and will be conferred with the qualification of MSc Business (Leadership & Management Practice) accredited & awarded by UCD at NFQ Level 9.
