Innovation & Enterprise Development

New to 2019, Tangent, Trinity's Ideas Workspace is offering a Postgraduate Certificate in Innovation and Enterprise Development.

Delivered across Ireland – in collaboration with Bank of Ireland, Local Enterprise Offices, and local Business Innovation Centres – students will take classes online and in their local Bank of Ireland Workbench with guest speakers and projects from their local innovation and enterprise ecosystem.

On this programme, students will learn the fundamentals of creative thinking, idea development, opportunity generation and recognition, and venture planning in order to bring innovative products and services to market.

Students will learn to be innovative and entrepreneurial in their approach to problem solving and acquire a range of problem solving and lateral thinking skills. They experience and engage in the innovation process through interacting with entrepreneurs, business leaders and industry mentors in an informal learning environment.

Entry requirements

The postgraduate certificate course will be open to graduates with a level 8 honours degree (or equivalent) in any discipline from a recognised third level institution. Those with demonstrated entrepreneurship aspirations will be prioritised.

As part of the entrance criteria, all applicants will be required to submit a 1-page personal statement outlining their motivation to undertake the course.

Subjects taught

Module 1
Innovation & Creativity (Delivered In-class)

This module explores principles and practices associated with creativity and innovation. It exposes students to frameworks and methodologies for idea generation, problem solving and creative collaboration.

Module 2
Opportunity Generation, Recognition, & Communication (Delivered Online)

This module provides the student with the tools to generate and recognise entrepreneurial opportunity. There is also a focus on the communication and articulation of such opportunity in an influential manner

Module 3
Enterprise Development (Delivered Online)

This module introduces the process involved in creating, leading and scaling entrepreneurial start-up venture.

Duration

The programme will commence in March 2019 with the face to face sessions taking place in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway in March and April with Modules 2 and 3 taking place consecutively in May, June, and July.
