This programme aims to allow the physiotherapist to choose an educational pathway that maps to their career specialty e.g. in primary care health, sports and exercise rehabilitation, musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

• This programme provides education in various strands (e.g. primary care, musculoskeletal, sports and exercise rehabilitation) that will enhance the physiotherapists specialist knowledge in their chosen area.
Vision & Values Statement
The MSc in Advanced Physiotherapy Studies aims to broaden the Chartered Physiotherapists' knowledge base in the areas relevant to the practice of physiotherapy mapping to their educational and career pathway needs. Graduates will have the opportunity to achieve excellence in professional practice as advanced clinicians, critical thinkers, and life-long learners. This programme offers a flexible graduate educational pathway where students can register as part of a structured degree programme on a part-time or full-time basis. We value and encourage our students to be active, motivated and independent learners who can initiate scholarly research in the area of physiotherapy. We encourage students to develop life-long learning and transferrable skills, such as advanced interpersonal and communication skills. Given the broad range of modules available from within the School that students may select, teaching, learning and assessment approaches include practical sessions, case studies, and on-line group work. Discipline specific national and international experts deliver the programme.
Programme Outcomes
Be able to understand and integrate their advanced knowledge and formulate judgments in complex situations within their specialist clinical areas of expertise.
Be competent in research methodology and critical evaluation of relevant literature.
Demonstrate a high level of clinical reasoning and critical analysis.
Develop and use life-long learning and transferrable skills (interpersonal and communication) in innovative ways.
Display extensive knowledge of physiotherapy and related topics taken from the broad range of modules available from within the School.
Stimulate, conduct and report upon scholarly research in their specialist area that maps to their career pathway.

This is open to Chartered Physiotherapists eligible for registration with the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP), with a 2:1 degree classification. No previous clinical experience is necessary except on a limited number of modules
