Social Enterprise & Entrepreneurship
Social enterprises use big ideas and new thinking to address the problems and challenges their stakeholders face. This programme gives you an entrepreneurial framework and the support to develop these game-changing ideas. This Certificate in Social Enterprise and Entrepreneurship is an applied programme that will give you the skills to move your enterprise into new areas or indeed to establish a new social enterprise.
Using the key skills from business, entrepreneurship and the non-profit sector the course will support you in understanding how to develop and test a model for a new social business or to realign a business model for an existing organisation or enterprise. The skills developed on the programme will ensure you are ready to work in the social enterprise sector having gained the knowledge and skills to develop and implement best practice enterprise strategies.
Who is this course for?
This course is aimed at those seeking to develop a social enterprise or progress an existing enterprise. It will be of particular relevance to those working in or aspiring to be leaders in social enterprise. Participants may come from an existing social enterprise, a start-up or an organisation/charity interested in integrating social enterprise into their work, the programme will enable you to develop and implement best practice social enterprise strategies into your organisation.
The programme will be useful to anyone interested in starting a social enterprise, funders who are looking to start funding Social Enterprises and for existing charities who are looking to diversify their funding models.
Applicants are required to hold a minimum of a 2.2 honours degree at level 8 or equivalent on the National Framework of Qualifications. Applications may also be considered under the college's Recognition of Prior, Experiential Learning (RPEL) policy and this is likely to be particularly relevant to people with significant work experience at a senior level in their organisation.

Attendance at college for 3 x 2-day blocks and one additional day (7 days total).
These blocks will be run over a 6 month or less period, allowing students spend time on applying the evidence based principles learned, completing applied projects as part of their assessment and focusing on independent learning.
Please note that exams can be scheduled during the morning, afternoon or evening Monday to Saturday.

Students who complete the modules on this programme may wish to progress, subject to entry requirements, to the MSc in Non-Profit Management at a future date.
Successful graduates of the programme are likely to emerge as future senior managers or CEOs of indigenous non-profit organisations, or develop further career progress in a newly developed social enterprise.
