We provide innovative speech and language therapy education to develop excellent graduates who enable the individual and the wider community to optimise their health and well-being. Graduate acquire a wide and unique skillset including the ability to:



Synthesise research, theoretical and clinical knowledge to inform assessment and management planning for people with communication and swallowing disorders



Demonstrate mastery of current and emerging techniques to transcribe and analyse normal and pathological communication and apply the results to inform diagnosis and intervention



Work with other disciplines to deliver effective, quality rehabilitation and management of people with communication and/or swallowing disorders

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree (NFQ Level 8) with at least a second-class honour, grade 2 (2:2) in any discipline.



Students in their final undergraduate year can apply, but must show they meet all entry requirements by the end of June in the year the programme starts.



For candidates who meet this requirement, the HPAT (Health Professions Admission Test-Ireland) will be used as the only instrument to select students for this programme.

Successful applicants must have Garda clearance, health screening, CPR certification and vaccinations before placement (any costs will be covered by the student). More information on Student Vetting.

Graduate careers

Graduates will be eligible to practice in Ireland and will be eligible to apply for registration in other parts of the world. You will be able to work in a diverse range of environments including schools, hospitals and community settings and with a diverse range of clinical populations.
