Careers in Engineering at Susquehanna International Group Limited

About Us: Have you got game?

Game theory rings true in everything we do. We’re big on competition, strategy, and managing risk – just like great gamers. We are problem solvers who analyse the financial markets to identify profitable trading opportunities. Raise your game and explore the opportunities with SIG.

SIG is a global quantitative trading firm, founded 30 years ago by a group of friends from Philadelphia who were interested in the financial markets and decision making games like poker. Our European headquarters was established in Dublin 17 years ago and is now home to 450+ employees. Building virtually all of our own trading technology from scratch, we are a leading and innovative company in high-performance, low latency trading.
Graduate opportunities We offer internships and graduate roles across Trading, Technology, Quantitative Research, Operations, and Market Intelligence.

  • Assistant Trader (AT) Programme – Our trading internship is a 10-week summer programme, designed to expose you to the working environment that you can expect if you return to SIG as a full-time Assistant Trader. Our AT internship is the best route into the AT Graduate Programme. Students who start their career at SIG learn what it’s like to work in a trading environment through a combination of SIG’s classroom education and impactful work on our trading desks. You will learn about options, poker, and game theory, and play mock trading games to help you interpret the uncertainty in the markets and develop a rigorous analytical approach to your decision making.
  • Trading Operations Analyst Programme - Our Trading Operations Analysts are embedded in various rotations within SIG’s financial operations teams to gain in-depth knowledge of key business areas such as trade support, trading operations, settlements, equity finance and risk. The nine month programme also incorporates classroom training sessions focused on developing company specific knowledge and technical skills, in both our home office and our global head office in Philadelphia.

Graduate Profile

Name: Niall Finn
Position: Assistant Trader on Equity Options Desk
Education: BSc Civil Engineering, UCD; MSc Quantitative Finance, Smurfit Graduate Business School

I’ve always had an interest in finance. Even while I was pursuing a degree in engineering, I took as many finance-related electives as I could. I was heavily involved in sports throughout college, a product of my competitive nature, but when I was interning at various engineering firms, none of them seemed to be the right fit. From reading about SIG online, and through people I knew who worked there, it seemed like it would be a good/perfect match for me; a place where I could combine my competitive nature with my aptitude for quantitative problem solving.

What sets SIG apart is its dynamic trading environment, which requires you to be adaptable as no two days are the same. It also doesn’t matter how long you’ve worked in SIG, if you have a good idea, it will get implemented, which is something that you might have to wait a few years for in other companies. If you have the right mind-set and enjoy challenging yourself, SIG is a great place to work. You are provided with all the resources necessary and given every opportunity to succeed.
