I graduated from UCD with a degree in Business and Law. Even from a very early stage, I got a real sense of the William Fry culture and felt that it was the right fit for me. From the drinks reception, right through the interview process, every member of staff I met made me feel at ease.
One of my first observations as a trainee in William Fry was the focus on teamwork. The open door culture struck me from the start. Everyone from Partners to Trainees is knowledgeable, efficient and always willing to steer you in the right direction. This emphasis really helped me settle in and feel like my contributions mattered.
My first rotation was nine months in Litigation where my time was split between Commercial Litigation and Medical Negligence. No two days were the same but the typical work given was extremely interesting and ranged from research to responding to client queries, to attending meetings and Court.
My second rotation was in Asset Management & Investment Funds. The level of exposure afforded to me even at this early stage of my career really impressed me. I was involved in numerous different projects and found the level of interaction with, and exposure to, Partners and their work really benefitted me.
I was fortunate to be selected for the Corporate rotation in our London office. This was an amazing opportunity to work and live in the heart London city. During the six months I was there, I was given a lot of responsibility and had the opportunity to mix corporate work with business development. I attended numerous networking events each time representing the Firm to my highest ability. From the outset, William Fry were extremely supportive, organising my flights and providing me with an apartment right in the centre of the city, they made the transition as smooth as possible for me. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my time in London, however the re-adjustment to life in Dublin was made easier with the relocation to our extremely modern and high-spec office at Grand Canal Square - it really is so impressive!
Throughout all of my rotations, I have been exposed to diverse and challenging work where I am constantly updating my skill sets and developing as a trainee. The quality of the training and level of support provided by William Fry is unrivalled and has really helped me in my career.
