Aldi Stores (Ireland) Limited
Laura initially joined Aldi in 2013, where she spent six months on an Industrial Placement Programme as a part of her University degree. Laura mentioned how this allowed her to gain “an invaluable insight into the various roles within the company”. As a result of this time Laura decided she wanted to become a graduate Area Manager and re-joined the company in September 2014 after completing her Commerce degree at University College Cork.
Laura thoroughly enjoyed the Aldi Graduate Area Manager Programme, and recommends other graduates to apply for the scheme: “Being an Area Manager is really enjoyable and the diversity of the role is one of the best parts. You’ll work with a variety of different people and personalities, and be expected to use your own initiative while demonstrating leadership. It’s all about adapting and being able to relate to different people so you can achieve high levels of success.”
In comparison with other graduate recruiters, at Aldi you are fully trained to Area Management level within a year, running your own stores and managing your own people. Laura mentions how “the various aspects of the training programme, both in-store initially and the time spent with an Area Manager, challenged me but I received a lot of support and feedback at all stages, which is really important for development in the role”. At Aldi, the responsibility you are given so early on in your career is unrivalled– the Aldi Graduate Area Manager Programme also offers the most competitive rewards and excellent career progression.
