Graduate Jobs / Graduate Profiles

I am a Chartered Accountant and chartered tax advisor. I opened my own business CPC Outsourcing in my twenties. My business is export focused, we primarily prepare UK tax returns and accounts for accountancy firms, finance teams and hedge funds in the UK from our premises in Bandon Co Cork. Outsourcing to us reduces our clients costs and provides our clients with the flexibility to focus on gaining new clients. I won Irelands Best Young Entrepreneur in the Cork North and West Region last year and CPC Outsourcing received €20,000 and the award for best established business with a new add on.”

I graduated in 2007 and started my accountancy career on the Ernst and Young graduate programme in Cork. The decision to do two sets of chartered exams both (ACA’s) chartered accountancy exams and (CTA’s) chartered tax examinations was difficult, it was one of the best decisions I ever made – when I moved to London the two qualifications opened many doors for me.

I moved to London in 2011 to work initially in corporate tax for a US consultancy firm. I then continued my career in London working in a private tax boutique in Mayfair assisting high net worth individuals with their UK tax concerns. It was while trying to find an outsourcing option for this firm that I saw an opening that might be filled by an Irish company. While still working in London I approached Enterprise Ireland which provided me with funding for a feasibility study. I decided to take the plunge and set up my own business.

The decision to leave London to set up my own business in West Cork wasn’t easy. I left many friends behind in London. Thankfully it has paid off in dividends and running my own business has been my career highlight to date.
