My name is Vance Power and I'm a third year Trainee Solicitor in the Commercial Property department of the Firm My route to a training contract came through the Summer Intern Programme (SIP). The SIP gave me an invaluable insight into the types of tasks performed by Solicitors. I particularly liked the level of team-work involved between departments and clients and also attended talks from Partners of the various departments in the Firm, which I found useful in broadening my knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of a corporate law firm.
Upon completion of the SIP, I was delighted to be offered a training contract. Having done internships at other law firms, A&L Goodbody stood out to me for its genuinely collegiate atmosphere. The people I met in the Firm were hard working but very approachable and down to earth. The Firm was flexible as to my start date and supportive of my additional study and travel plans. I subsequently completed an LLM at the London School of Economics and I also worked with the European Commission in Brussels and did some travelling before eventually returning to prepare for the FE1 exams.
