Quote: “Having the network of a large international company like AECOM behind you provides a passport of opportunities for taking the next step in your career – in whichever direction that may be.”

Since joining AECOM two years ago I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of iconic structural projects around Dublin’s city centre. During this time I have greatly improved my technical skills for a variety of construction materials, as well as gaining valuable on-site experience. I enjoy visiting site as it provides the opportunity to see and understand the context of a design within its environment, as well as practicing the key skills involved in working alongside other members of a design team – such as the architect, contractor and client. I love seeing a design I have been involved in on paper be transformed into a physical structure, and following completion seeing it being used by the general public.

Working as a structural engineer is a challenging, dynamic process which involves a variety of skill sets. AECOM helps graduates bridge this gap between the academic environment of university and applying design concepts to real life situations. Graduates joining AECOM are supported by the Graduate Development Programme (GDP) which is a scheme in place to mentor, guide and help graduates work towards and gain their professional accreditation status.

As a graduate at AECOM you will have access to a range of CPD activities and be surrounded by highly skilled engineers whose experience provides a great source of reference at the start of your career. Having the network of a large international company like AECOM behind you provides a passport of opportunities for taking the next step in your career – in whichever direction that may be.
