My name is Connor Owende and I am a Trainee Solicitor. Working in A&L Goodbody was an obvious choice for me after college as the work the Firm engages in allows me to utilise all the skills I developed in college on a daily basis. I participated in the A&LG Summer Internship Programme (SIP) in 2014. The SIP was highly beneficial and structured, allowing me to learn the practicalities of life as a corporate lawyer. I was successful in acquiring a traineeship on completion of my SIP and I commenced my traineeship in April 2017.
The main benefit of a traineeship with A&L Goodbody is that it is self-driven. Trainees are constantly encouraged to be pro-active in seeking work and getting involved in projects. Exposure to client meetings, attending court and conducting research maximises the opportunity to learn from marketing leading lawyers. Furthermore the Trainee Development Programme ensures that we have ample opportunity, via lectures and practical workshops, to further develop as top lawyers. The breadth and quality of A&L Goodbody's client base ensures that the work undertaken is varied and engaging.
Trainee life at A&L Goodbody is not all work and no play. The Firm promotes a healthy work life balance and encourages trainees to engage in the many events organised by the amazing Social Committee which include the Lip Sync battle, trips to the cinema/concerts and the Christmas party. There are also trainee specific events such as Tag Rugby and weekends away. I would encourage all those considering a future in one of Irelands leading law firms to apply to A&L Goodbody whether it is for a place on the SIP or a Trainee position.
The training you receive at A&L Goodbody is second to none and ensures that the Firm continues to stay at the top of the market. Being voted as GradIrelands' most popular recruiter in law for the last six years is clear proof of this.
