I have spent my first year as an Engineering Associate on the Pure Ambition Graduate Programme on the Glanbia Performance System (GPS) team in Glanbia Ireland, Ballyragget.
As part of this team, I work on creating solutions and opportunities to make a role or process run in a consistent, efficient and effective way. GPS is the lens of the customer and we focus on ensuring the core Glanbia value of being the Customer’s Champion is a priority, each and every day.
On the GPS team, I have been exposed to lean manufacturing techniques, where we continually identify areas and processes for improvement. From the beginning of the programme, I have been given roles with significant responsibility, which have allowed me to push myself and gain a sense of achievement when projects are completed.
The opportunity to train other people in GPS, including other graduates, has been invaluable. During the first year of my graduate programme, I have also taken Engineers Ireland CPD modules to develop my skills and stay up-to-date by constantly learning and improving. My current project involves working through a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Qualification on an optimisation and waste reduction initiative that can be utilised by other sites across the organisation. Glanbia provides the investment and opportunity to allow graduates grow and fulfil their potential.
