I studied a Bachelor of Business Studies in Finance (Hons) at DCU. In my third year there, I decided to take the opportunity of a yearlong work placement. This led me to HedgeServ, which came highly recommended by classmates who had completed the internship programme the previous year.
Having completed my internship and final year in college, I was offered the opportunity to return as a Graduate Fund Accountant in HedgeServ. HedgeServ provides a Graduate Development Programme which gives graduates an insight into key elements of Accounting and Finance that are crucial in developing an understanding of the role of a Fund Accountant. My role has given me the opportunity to develop new skills such as problem solving, team-work and the ability to meet deadlines.
The Graduate Programme is excellent for learning and gaining experience but it is also a great platform for meeting new people in a dynamic and energetic atmosphere. There are also many social events throughout the year, including tennis, tag rugby, football, pilates, charity events, the Summer BBQ and the Christmas party!
I would highly recommend the Graduate Fund Accountant role for anyone who is interested in pursuing a career that is rewarding, has travel opportunities and tuition support in qualifying as an accountant.
