I’ve worked as an Audit Trainee in Brenson Lawlor for a year and a half. Before beginning my training contract here I attended Dublin City University were I completed a Bachelor of Business degree.
Brenson Lawlor is an excellent place to work and it has provided me with invaluable opportunities to learn and develop my skills and knowledge. Being a medium sized firm gives you the opportunity to get to know everyone and gives you the chance to work closely with managers and partners of the firm.
As the firm works specifically with clients in the pharmacy sector, nursing home sector and with small retailers you get an in-depth insight into these businesses. Not only do you work on client’s accounts, but you also get the opportunity to develop relationships with those clients yourself. Working in this area has enabled me to be involved from the start right through to the delivery of accounts for clients. It’s a fantastic training ground where you can draw on the expertise of colleagues to help you learn.
From the beginning of my training I have been given roles with significant responsibility which has allowed me to push myself and improve my skills. This is a thing I admire about Brenson Lawlor as you get real hands on experience. Brenson Lawlor’s approach of putting graduates at the forefront and letting them meet and deal with clients enables us graduates to make an impact in the firm.
Another thing I like is that the firm really takes a personal interest in you as a person and are supportive of your interests outside of the office. For me, this has been a key factor and helps transition from college to working life an easier one. You are constantly learning in this working environment and Brenson Lawlor has also supported me with my ACA accounting qualification.
