Tell us why you chose the Musgrave Graduate Programme

I chose the Musgrave Graduate Programme because of its close ties to Irish retailers, producers and ultimately family businesses. Having completed a BSc in Food Marketing and Entrepreneurship at UCC I was looking for a job in the food industry whether that be at home or abroad. Upon researching the Musgrave Graduate Programme, it seemed the perfect fit for me; a company that was innovative, forward thinking and a market leader growing and supporting Irish brands. From a development perspective the Graduate Programme offered me a clear progression path to management roles.  From talking/ listening to previous graduates I knew my career path and personal development goals would be met at Musgrave.

What’s the best aspect of the Programme for you?

The best aspect of the programme so far has to be the level of time and interest put into the Graduates. The Graduate support network is active across the business – and through this network we are given every opportunity to get involved in various projects across the business and are free to seek advice or knowledge when needed.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

One of my greatest achievements so far was being asked to get involved on a project for the Managing Director – Martin Kelleher. On a team with two other Graduates we scoped out a competitor’s market share, unique selling point and competitive edge. As a first year Graduate it was a great opportunity to get stuck into an interesting project like this!

What kind of rotation will you be doing?

I am currently working on the Centra Value for Money team, next year I will be working on the SuperValu team to get a broader knowledge of the business.

What about the Irish Management Institute (IMI) development programme?

The IMI modules are very interactive and prepare you with a skillset for your future career. My intake group have completed three modules to-date including building your personal brand and negotiation skills. After each IMI module I have found that I always learn something that can be implemented in my every day role.

What advice would you give a graduate joining the Musgrave Programme?

Ask yourself what you want to get out of your own career in the long term and set milestones to reflect this in year one of the Graduate Programme. Looking back on these you will be amazed by how far you will have come along in a short period of time - especially in FMCG!

Why should people choose Musgrave?

Simply put – the Musgrave Values, the culture, the people and the graduate network.
