"The firm has a very sociable culture with lots of social events including dinners and sports etc. Everyone makes an effort to attend team nights out and other social events, which really helps to build a strong team feeling."
First year trainee,
"The culture of the firm is one of the best things about the firm in my opinion. There's a very open, supportive and diverse culture throughout the firm. People are treated with respect and there is very much an open-door policy, which is great as it means there's always support when one needs it."
Third year trainee,
"The culture is good with strong teamwork and good socialising events on a regular basis."
Third year trainee,
"The firm is great at organising social events, such as the annual summer BBQ and the black-tie Christmas dinner. I am also a member of the firm's choir, which is great fun and a brilliant way to get know people from all levels and departments across the firm. The annual Christmas concert is a highlight of the A&L Goodbody social calendar. There is also the opportunity to take part in other activities such as tag rugby, lunchtime pilates and evening yoga classes. The nature of the work means that advice is often sought under time-sensitive conditions. Having to work to such tight deadlines is challenging at times."
"Cooperation and teamwork is clearly evident between team members and teams in different departments. There are numerous social and sporting outings organised every month on a firm-wide basis."
Second year trainee,
"There is a clear hierarchy in the office. However, partners and other senior staff are generally very approachable and helpful. There are lots of events and opportunities to socialise among colleagues, which is great."
Third year trainee,
"Associates and solicitors are open to questions and discussions on tasks. Trainees and paralegals typically spend lunchtimes and coffee breaks together and will often go for a Friday evening drink. This is actively encouraged to enhance our experience while at the firm."
First year trainee,
"There is a good amount of social activity and friendly interaction between colleagues. The firm is very cooperative and there is no fiercely competitive or 'sharp elbows' atmosphere, which allows collaborative work to get done well. This is not a firm for someone who is only out for themselves as it is highly team-focused. I always feel like I am given due credit for the work I do."
Second year trainee,
"In general, the firm has a very good culture. The open-door policy is clearly visible and people, for the most part, are very encouraging. Most of the senior staff I have worked with have taken an active interest in seeing me develop. Outside of work hours, the firm is very good at organising social events and encouraging a work/life balance."

"There is a strong culture of co-operation and teamwork at A&L Goodbody. Throughout the different departments there is a desire to work together and to help each other. There is also an active social committee and the trainees would all socialise together after work on a Friday."
Third year trainee, Dublin
"There is a huge emphasis on teamwork and an 'open-door' policy. Most Partners listen to you when you're on their team, and there are great social events for the firm every month. The firm works hard but also enjoys free time."
Second year trainee, Dublin
"Trainees are encouraged to ask questions and the firm operates an 'open-door' policy. The vast majority of teams understand the importance of a work/life balance, and this extends to trainees."
Third year trainee, Dublin
"Within the office, there are a number of groups to get involved in. For example, I am a member of the firm choir and sing with them in competitions. Outside the office and after-hours, there are often numerous activities organised by personnel in the building to reward us for our hard work and to enable us to have fun!"
Second year trainee, Dublin
"The structure of teams is good. Teamwork is a major aspect of the daily routine. The firm has a great social aspect and has plenty of events that encourage socialising across the various levels. Most teams would also have a good social aspect."
