"The training programme at ALG is of a very high quality with an emphasis on professional development. The Escalate workshops and other training initiatives for trainees are very good and I feel that the firm is committed to maximising the potential of its trainees."
Second year trainee,
"There is a constant programme of trainee development seminars every week. Additionally, each department has at least one weekly knowledge session that trainees attend and are encouraged to contribute to. Some of these are specifically for trainees in a department. The firm is keen to ensure there is access to other forms of education as well. Trainees are encouraged to always be developing their legal and non-legal skills."
Third year trainee,
"There are weekly trainee seminars where internal and external speakers are invited to give presentations on different legal issues. Additionally, each department will hold weekly trainee workshops that are specific to the department. A new trainee relay project has since been launched for trainees across all levels to collaborate to deliver a researched presentation."
Third year trainee,
"The Escalate programme is a new initiative of the firm and is directed at making the training at ALG the best it can be. We have received a variety of seminars and talks regarding different departments and the wide range of other work the firm engages in outside of one's department. The trainee relay project is a good example of a way to improve upon research skills."
First year trainee,
"The firm has an internal trainee training programme where you attend weekly seminars on various legal topics. There are also department-specific workshops that provide practical advice on daily trainee tasks and allow trainees to carry out mock transactions that may be above their level. We have also been given communication and public speaking training."
Third year trainee,
"The training programme is extremely well organised and managed. We are given weekly workshops and tasks that encourage engagement at a practical level with what we are learning in different teams. The training is tailored to your stage of the traineeship and the department you are placed in."
Second year trainee,
"The training programme is excellent. Trainees rotate across four departments in the firm. There are workshops that are department-specific that elaborate upon your work. There are also mid- and end-of-seat assessments for trainees given by partners so you can see which areas you are doing well in and where you need to improve."
First year trainee,
"The training programme has just been reorganised and is yet to find a formal structure. Each department organises weekly training sessions for trainees on legal topics that are helpful. However, some of the projects given to trainees can be very time consuming, which is difficult to balance with a full workload."

"The training programme in general is fantastic. We rotate across four departments over the course of the programme. This allows us to get a great insight into the work in each department. For each department, there are frequent workshops which allow us to us expand our learning."

"The training programme is excellent. There are weekly trainee education presentations where a combination of trainees, partners and experts give talks on specific issues of importance and/or relevance. There are also workshops within the departments, so that you can become more familiar with the area you are working in and ask questions."

"The firm runs a fantastic training programme. You are supported and encouraged every step of the way. There are trainee education programme talks every week delivered by people in different departments, so you learn about all of the departments in the firm. The firm provides you with a bursary to complete further education courses such as diplomas or certificates."
Third year trainee, Dublin
"Weekly presentations are given on specific areas of the firm or skills that are essential to respective departments. Trainees have to give these on occasion, which adds to your development and learning."

"I think that the training programme is excellent. There are regular lectures on all aspects of legal work and the work our firm engages in to constantly keep us up to date on modern developments. The know-how centre is also an excellent way of sharing knowledge throughout the firm."
