Please elaborate on the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you’ve picked up.
"I have been trained in MS Access, which was a refresher from college, and it has been very useful in my work. I have been trained in Logix software, learnt how to manipulate data to answer a question and create user friendly graphics. I also attended a session on 'Managing Aggressive Behaviour': how to deal with difficult members of the public, and I now understand behaviour and attitudes better in order to make effective decisions."Local Government Graduate Development Programme,
"We have had training with the Institute of Public Administration in Croke Park and Mullingar, and both sessions were helpful."Local Government Graduate Development Programme,
"The training with the Local Government Management Agency has been very helpful, particularly the regional training days which were more reflective and focused on personal development. I'm looking into getting more training in work which would help me work much more effectively: Photoshop and graphic design training for promoting and covering events in the libraries."Local Government Graduate Development Programme,
"Training is a big part of the role. There are constantly training courses being offered: some are general and others more tailored for your needs, but it means you are constantly improving and learning new skills."Civil Service Graduate Development Programme,
"I have had a three-day induction with all graduates and two-days regionalised into a small group of 14 people courtesy of the Local Government Management Agency. This has all been a good background to the world of local government and highlights the diversity of duties across various county councils, even among a group of similar employees."Local Government Graduate Development Programme,
"I have had Safe Pass training so I can enter building sites, and learnt health and safety protocols. My Business Process Improvement (BPI) training has been fully accredited by the Institute of Public Administration and I have learnt how to carry out BPI projects."Local Government Graduate Development Programme,
"I have received Advanced Training in Freedom of Information and training in Data Protection. I have also picked up on processes from staff, on the job, and skills on dealing with ombudsman requests. My knowledge of how local government works has also been enhanced significantly."Local Government Graduate Development Programme,
"My graduate training has been a mix of Civil Service-specific training (e.g. how to address different types of documents) and more general working skills (e.g. how to work well with others and get the best from opportunities)."Civil Service Graduate Development Programme,
"There is a training programme in place for AO Economists, as well as the option to take further modules yourself. The courses have only just started, so I have not developed many skills so far, but I know I will have done so in a year's time."IGEES, Graduate Economist Development Programme,
"There are excellent opportunities to train and further develop my skills as part of my work and through funded courses. The new Graduate Development Course is also a good way to get an overview of the Civil Service and the skills required in different areas, while meeting people from different areas."Civil Service Graduate Development Programme,
"There's a graduate training scheme covering skills such as managing performance, learning styles and project management in partnership with the Irish Management Institute, as well as Civil Service-led modules that cover working practices and processes within the Civil Service. Also, on a department level, there are opportunities for anything from short courses in IT to Master's level qualifications."Civil Service Graduate Development Programme,
"I have had excellent training through the Graduate Development Programme, and there have been some training opportunities in the department too."Civil Service Graduate Development Programme,
"Training is really one of the highlights for the Civil Service. There are numerous training courses (some mandatory, some optional) which are really beneficial. There are also sponsorships and the possibility to avail of a refund of fees if seeking to complete further education (subject to certain terms)."Civil Service Graduate Development Programme,
"I had three formal days of induction and more on-site health and safety discussions. I also had a follow up of two days' training which I found helpful and informative."Local Government Graduate Development Programme,
