Regional Health and Safety Officer

We are seeking an applicant for the following:

Regional Health and Safety Officer

Core Requirements:

  • Health and Safety Cert, Diploma or Degree is essential
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the field
  • Manual handling instructor’s qualification is desirable
  • Good knowledge of laboratory safety practices including valid safety training certs if available
  • Undertaking laboratory chemical, manual handling and laboratory plant equipment risk assessments and implementing appropriate preventive/corrective controls
  • Up to date with Legislation, Guidance, Advice and Compliance
  • High level of computer literacy is essential – MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook.
  • Excellent english written and verbal communications skills with emphasis on ability to provide and explain reports accurately and give PowerPoint presentations to management and staff
  • Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • An orientation for on time task completion and advanced learning capabilities
  • Ability to source legal and technical information where required
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to balance compliance priorities

Responsibilities/ Duties:

 

  • Conduct regular, formal site audits and carrying out inspections
  • Deliver Health and Saftey induction training for all new employees and sub contractors and maintain documentary evidence of the same
  • Ensuring that record of statutory inspections are kept for all activities and plant equipment
  • Deliver and complete statutory notifications to the Health & Safety Authority for the project and all incident / accident reporting and to conduct inspector site visits as required by the Health & Safety Authority
  • Preparation of Risk Assessments
  • Manage and make recommendations for Personal Protection Equipment required
  • Serve as a representative at H&S related Site meetings
  • Ensure sub-contractor safety statement and required Method statement are available on site and assess sub-contractor statements and method statements, assisting where required
  • Compile, update and communicate site Emergency Plans
  • Conduct preliminary accident investigations and statutory notifications, while keeping Group Safety Director updated
  • Make sure First Aiders are available, that an adequate quantity of First Aid supplies is in stock and that all relevant Certs are updated
  • Liaise with management with regard to Training requirements
