Veterinary Surgeon: Farm and Equine
Come and join our friendly and motivated 5 vet team who enjoy a mix of farm and equine. We thrive on input from all, and personal development and wellbeing is core to what we do. We are looking for someone to complement our team and progress in all aspects of daily veterinary life.
Our area covers central Cornwall from the beach and surf on the north coast and sailing and boating on the south. We serve dairy, beef and sheep farmers, and fortunately have our very own camelid expert. We cover a broad range of equine disciplines and types. A farm or equine bias is willingly supported through training and CPD: we all have areas of interest and this is particularly encouraged.
We welcome those with experience, but aptitude, interest and enthusiasm equally as important. We have a proven track record of supporting new and recent graduates and have produced some great clinicians.
Though mainly ambulatory, we have generous and comfortable practice premises that were purpose built, and not least enables us to sort our vehicles undercover, drink tea, and eat cake. Our inpatient facilities allow for investigations and surgery, the more tricky procedures or a need for extra pairs of hands. We are equipped with easiscans and goggles, digital radiography, battery HDE motorised dental kit, endoscope, interherd+, and Equinosis Q Lameness Locator.
Tb testing is a feature of our work, but kept to a certqin level for assistants to develop their clinical work.
The support staff are youthful and experienced, and are a constant help and support throughout the day.
The practice is in lovely Truro, a social and active town with cinema, pubs, sports and eateries and makes a great base to explore Cornwall. Mainline station, local airport and main road link close to our practice allows for trips ‘up country`.
Our rota is shared evenly between four which we try to keep as regular in the week as possible to allow for evening clubs etc. Half day the great majority of weeks, 5 weeks holiday plus bank hols, RCVS and BVA membership. Competitive salary depending on experience and skills. We supply a vehicle, either estate type or double cab depending on preference. Accommodation is available at below market rent if required.
Permanent position or a shorter term is possible. Start around beginning of Feb, or soonest after.
NOTE: CLOSING DATE: please apply as soon as you are interested as long date given.
Happy to chat about any aspect of the position, as well as life as a practice vet in Cornwall.
Expressions of interest for a 2019 new graduate position also welcome.
