Charityworks Graduate Leadership Development Trainee
As a Charityworks Graduate Trainee you will deliver a full time job in a partner charity or housing association and take part in an acclaimed leadership programme introducing you to what you need to work and lead in the non-profit sector.
In your placement you might be providing vital business support and evaluation at a national charity like NSPCC, leading on the improvement of infrastructure projects with a housing charity, driving international business with the RNLI, or serving a community in a local project. Wherever you’re placed, you’ll have a chance to make a real impact through your work.
Alongside your placement, you will take part in a leadership programme. You’ll be supported by our programme team and an external mentor to help you make the most of the year. Twice a month you’ll come together with your fellow trainees and leaders across the sector to explore and debate the key issues affecting your work and society as a whole. You’ll also produce your own research, helping to raise your profile and develop your understanding of your environment.
At the end of the 12-month scheme you’ll have the experience and skills to kick-start your professional career in the UK social sector and beyond. Charityworks graduates are highly desired with 98% securing employment within 3 months if they were looking for it. Typically, over 66% of graduates stay in their host organisations at the end of the year, and 96% of graduates since 2009 have remained within the non-profit or public sector – some have even gone on to start their own organisations.

Our minimum academic requirements are a 2:1 at degree level (or equivalent) OR a Masters.
We do not have a preference for particular degrees or disciplines.
We offer a selection of technical roles too, making the programme also relevant to those from a STEM, IT or Finance background.
You must have at least one piece of experience which allows you to demonstrate your commitment to social change (this can be paid or unpaid, at home or abroad, and can include caring responsibilities).*
Ability to competently use basic IT software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office or equivalent), which may include any adaptations/adjustments as required.*
Due to the fact that we partner with a range of organisations and place Graduate Trainees into a vast number of varied roles, it is not possible to provide a detailed job description that applies to all positions at this stage.
