Who we are…..

Based in Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath, Innovative Polymer Compounds (IPC) is a specialist ISO 13485 approved compounder of Medical Grade Engineering Polymers for a wide range of Medical Devices including long-term implantable, short-term implantable as well as external medical devices. IPC produce pellets from a mixture of polymer materials, pigments and powders, using a process called compounding which is a form of mixing.  From these pellets, their customers manufacture implantable and external medical devices.

What the role will involve…….

As IPC continues to grow, so does the quantity of enquiries from customers where IPC is expected to advise on the Polymer Compound Formulations. Queries such as, which polymer to use in a long-term implantable grade, which additives are suitable for certain applications and/or certain properties, which additives work and do not work with which polymers, and/or colour matching a certain polymer to an exact colour reference using IPC’s ISO 10993 approved pigments.

IPC needs an additional team member to grow the in-house knowledge on these types of formulations. The work involved with advising on a formulation can include desktop research, trial compounding, and post compounding analysis and follow-up compounding with tweaked formulations. This person would be based in IPC’s new Polymer Compound Test centre with its own lab sized compounder and test equipment
