The MSc in Psychology (Conversion) offers a conversion route for graduates who hold an honours degree in Psychological Studies or a discipline cognate to Psychology, with at least 30 ECTS credits in Psychology or Psychology-related modules; and 30 ECTS in Research Methods modules or equivalent. Cognate discipline degrees may include Humanities; Health Sciences etc. Psychological Studies degrees are those that do not confer eligibility for the graduate basis from the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS). Our oneyear Pre-professional MSc programme is the essential first-step for those graduates aspiring to pursue a career in Psychology.
A pre-professional degree in Psychology offers graduates the opportunity to work in Psychology based professions. However, further education and professional training at postgraduate level is required post conversion to permit graduates to work as professional psychologists.
This one-year, full-time programme, at level nine of the National Framework of Qualifications, covers a comprehensive curriculum in psychology with a strong focus on practical and research skills. Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) accreditation of this programme is pending.
