“Tomorrow’s legal world will bear little resemblance to that of the past. Legal institutions and lawyers…are poised to change more radically over the next two decades than they have over the last two centuries” – Richard Susskind, Tomorrow’s Lawyers: an Introduction to Your Future.

The globalisation of the world economy, and the cross-border nature that defines commerce these days mean that national borders are becoming less relevant to international transactions. What this means for lawyers is that their clients are no longer content with lawyers who are locally educated, locally qualified and locally experienced, but are instead looking for lawyers with international credentials and experience. English is increasingly becoming the language of international commerce, and common law is prominently used in international transactions. For law graduates and practitioners, qualifying or dual-qualifying as a US attorney (in New York or California) can provide you with a passport to work in international legal services, and to gain that international experience.

Friarylaw alumni are currently working in areas such as capital markets and finance, arbitration, aviation, human rights, oil and gas all over the world from continental Europe to the Middle East, from the Far East to the Americas, all based on their having qualified as US attorneys.

The New York and California bar exams are held in February and July each year in the US. Our unique bar course prepares students in five months to sit the New York or California bar exams, and is specifically designed so students can work while studying. It is tailored to non-US students, and combines:

  • administrative support that takes the headache out of application forms
  • mentoring from Friarylaw staff all of whom are Friarylaw alumni who passed the bar exam first time around
  • a study schedule designed to teach the material and methodology of the exam to non-US students, and
  • two simulated exams.

All of which will place students in the best possible position to be successful at the bar examinations on their first attempt.

If you are interested in a professional legal qualification that is second to none, and a career that is out of the ordinary, contact Friarylaw and we will arrange a one-to-one meeting with one of our course directors who can advise you on studying for and obtaining this qualification.

Remember to mention gradireland when contacting institutions!
