About the course
The Certificate in International Business is a broad-based, practical introductory programme of one semester duration, specifically designed to prepare graduates whose primary discipline is not business or management related for entry to the postgraduate stages of the MBA/MSc programmes.

Careers or further progression

The Certificate, for non-business graduates, is required for entry to the postgraduate programmes. Alternatively, business graduates and non-business graduates may use this programme to update their knowledge prior to entry to the postgraduate programmes, or as a valuable qualification in its own right

– International Financial Reporting*
– International Leisure Service Marketing*
– Introduction to Law and the International Legal System*

* Substitute Modules

Students wishing to progress to the MSc in Accounting and Finance Management programme may substitute the International Financial Reporting module for the International Financial Accounting module. Students wishing to progress to the MSc in International Tourism and Hospitality Management module may substitute International Leisure Service Marketing for one of the other modules on the Certificate programme.

Students wishing to progress to the MSc in International Business and Law programme may substitute Introduction to Law and the International Legal System for one of the other modules on the Certificate in International Business programme.

Further substitute modules may be added as required. All substitutions are subject to the advice and approval of the Programme Director.

Application can be made directly to the GCD Admissions Office or via the website

Applications for all direct entry programmes (undergraduate, postgraduate, part-time/evening time) must be made on the website and relevant* supporting documentation can be emailed to or posted to:

*All applications for direct entry to undergraduate programmes should include a copy of official Leaving Certificate results with the exception of mature applicants (who must supply evidence of date of birth).
