Clinical Research Operations

This two stage programme is delivered 2 evenings per week and 2 Saturdays per month.

Stage 1
A two semester taught programme in Clinical Research Operations (60 ETCS Credits) leading cumulatively to a Postgraduate Diploma in Science in Clinical Research Operations.

Stage 2
A one semester dissertation stage leading to an MSc in Clinical Research Operations.

About the Course
This new 12 month Masters programme is a unique blend of Clinical Research and Business Technology. It will focus on core competencies such as Pharmaceutical Life Cycle, Clinical Research, Regulatory & Ethical Requirements, Operational Excellence, Strategic Thinking and Professional Skills.

All classes are broadcast live using an online training platform, offering the learners the opportunity to either physically attend or join the class online. All classes are also recorded allowing learners the opportunity to view later and support revision.

Online learning and support will be provided through the use of Moodle. Extensive coaching and mentoring workshops will be provided with specific focus on individual assessment and improvement.

A substantial focus of the programme will also develop the professional skills of the graduate to enhance their career opportunities through development of their CVs, interview skills, and their networking, presentation and communication skills.

Entry requirements

The primary target audience are those with a minimum qualification of higher degree (minimum 2.2 or higher) at NFQ Level 8 or higher in Science, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Medicine or related discipline.


12 months over three semesters.

Delivery: Classroom / Broadcast Live.

Options are available and will depend on the academic requirements and the career choice of the learner.

Potential Roles include; - Clinical Trial Manager, Clinical Project Manager, Health Informatics Research Analyst, Project Manager, Clinical Research Associate, Clinical Investigators, Clinical Research Team Leader.
