From 2018/19 onwards, there will be a rolling submission date for Masters by Research Application, meaning the applicant can submit their expression of interest for (PG1 and initial abstract) to mastersbyresearch@iadt.ie at any time.
However, once approved to move to Stage 2 of the application process, the applicant has 6 weeks from notification of progression to Stage 2 to submit their full Research Proposal and Form PG2.
In advance of any application (either independent project of research call), the applicant must have a confirmed potential supervisor. It is the responsibility of the candidate to establish contact with a potential supervisor in advance of pursuing a Masters by Research Application.
Please note, the onus is on the applicant and supervisor to work together in advance of the final submission deadline to ensure that the final proposal and all associated documentation is submitted on time.
Process Overview:
Candidate makes first contact with potential supervisor / supervisory Team
Once the potential supervisor (s) are confirmed, the candidate can submit form PG1 (Expression of Interest) and Project Abstract to mastersbyresearch@iadt.ie
The candidate will receive an acknowledgement of submission email
The PG1 (Expression of Interest) and Project Abstract are submitted for internal review and approval and the decision is fed back to the Dept. of Strategic and Postgraduate Development, who informs the candidate of the decision.
If approved to progress onto Stage 2, the Candidate has 6 weeks from the date of notification to work with his / her supervisor to submit their full Research Proposal and accompanying PG2A Form.
The full proposal and all accompanying documentation is then submitted by the Dept. of Strategic and Postgraduate Development to an appointed external examiner, who is an expert in the field of research, for assessment as a viable Masters Project.
The External Reviewers assessment is then fed back to the Supervisor and Department Head for final review and approval.
The candidate will be notified of the final decision and next steps if approved by the Dept. of Strategic and Postgraduate Development.
