Distributed & Mobile Computing

About the Course
The MSc in Distributed and Mobile Computing is a taught masters programme (NFQ Level 9) which provides an opportunity for IT professionals to enhance and update their knowledge of the latest technologies and research activities within the important fields of Distributed and Mobile Computing.

The Programme
Students taking the programme select 60 taught credits from the range of modules available with Research Methods and Mobile Application Design and Development being mandatory. The wide elective choice is designed to allow participants decide which modules are more relevant to them.

Accreditations/Outcomes
The programme covers topics in Mobile Apps Development, Scalability, Networking, Cloud Computing and Virtualisation, and Business Intelligence and Data Analytics among other current topics. Participants complete a 30 credit dissertation, with the aim of producing research work of a sufficient standard to publish. Graduates of the programme report obtaining new positions and promotions as a result of participating in the programme.

Entry requirements

What do I Need?
A BSc (Hons) in Computing (Level 8), 2nd class honours grade 2 (2.2) minimum or an Honours Bachelor’s Degree (Level 8) in a scientific, mathematical or engineering discipline, 2nd class honours grade 2 (2.2) minimum, subject to relevant work experience. All applicants must have competence in spoken and written English in accordance with Institute admissions regulations. Candidates may be interviewed to determine eligibility.

Course fee

Academic Year 1:
€1750 (Inclusive of ITT Dublin registration fee and examination fee). If completing individual modules/ groups of modules the individual module fee is €450 plus the ITT Dublin registration fee of €30 and an examination fee of €15 per module examination (up to a maximum of €70 per academic year).

Academic Year 2:
€1750 (Inclusive of ITT Dublin registration fee and examination fee). There is an additional charge of €1500, payable in year two, for completion of the thesis component. If completing individual modules/ groups of modules the individual module fee is €450 plus the ITT Dublin registration fee of €30 and an examination fee of €15 per module examination (up to a maximum of €70 per academic year).

Please note: Where students fail to complete the thesis component in the available time (2 years), they may be liable to a continuation fee of €1500 for each subsequent academic year leading to completion and graduation from the programme.
