People Management

Aims
This two-year part time programme is aimed at non-business graduates who are looking to advance their careers by achieving a qualification in People Management. This programme will cover the key principles of People Management and is structured to maximise student learning through facilitating students to consider the implementation of such concepts and principles in a work environment. Historically, HR & people management was always regarded as a support function. More recently, with talented employees identified as a key source of competitive advantage, it has taken on a strategic business dimension. Such organisations are often more innovative, efficient and productive than their peers.

On completion, the student will achieve the following:
• Manage people effectively through a strong applied knowledge of HR and general business skills and competencies.
• Devise effective strategies around core HR functions such as talent acquisition, job design, pay and reward, learning and development and managing performance.
• Advise on employee relations issues concerning the legal context of work.
• Act as a business partner in the organisation, using a knowledge of strategic management and financial decision making to strengthen the HR function's voice.
• Influence diplomatically through an applied knowledge of work psychology.

Entry requirements

An honours degree (level 8) in a non-business or a non-cognate discipline or approved equivalent qualification, or

A level 7 qualification in a non-business or a non-cognate discipline and at least 1 year relevant professional experience/responsibility.

Special Case Registrations: Prospective participants who do not meet the entry requirements for the programme detailed above, but who may qualify for admission by meeting certain other equivalent criteria, should apply to the Department of Flexible Learning Office for consideration.

Duration

2 years, 30 weeks per year.
1 evening per week. Monday, 6.30pm - 9.30pm.
2 online tutorials per week.
8 Saturday workshops.

Assessment method

Learners are assessed by means of assignments across all modules.

In completing these assignments learners will be expected to apply theoretical concepts to their own individual workplace.

All employer information obtained by the learner to complete assignments will be treated confidentially.

Course fee

€2,150 per annum.
All Taught Postgraduate students can avail of three payment options:
Option 1: 100% on registration.
Option 2: 50% on registration and 50% by the 15th January.
Option 3: By Instalment Plan – Signed and Agreed with the Grants & Fees Office.

Please Note: Examination results will not be released to any student with an outstanding fee. Students will not be permitted to register for the next academic session or graduate until their outstanding fees are paid in full.
