Aims
This programme is designed to help fill the widening skills gap within this growing TV and Film industry. There is a clear opportunity to take both employed and recently graduated students in the Mid-West region who have a grounding in cognate areas and up-skill them to meet the industry needs for roles within Film and TV Art Departments. This programme will be delivered in a flexible mode by utilising studio, workshops and blended learning to allow participants to continue working within industry.
This programme will develop competencies applicable to all roles within the Film and TV Art Department. Those roles include; Art Department Assistant, Art Department Coordinator, Concept Artist, Junior Draftsman, Draftsman and Assistant Art Director. The Graduates of this programme will possess a well-developed understanding and a practical knowledge of how to work as part of a TV or Film Art Department Team. Programme will include; Talks and demos from industry experts – Trips to Art Departments and Prop houses – Trip to set production/manufacturing workshops – Work placements. This is an industry focused course developed and taught by ex-industry professionals using contemporary industry standard tools and techniques. In addition to extending graduates creative ability and technical skills they will also have a foundation in the planning, and management of Film and TV Art Departments. Graduates will have a range of industry ready skills that make them highly employable across all roles in any TV or Film Art Department. The programme has been developed in conjunction with local industry, in particular Troy Studios.
Programme Delivery Mode
This programme is delivered with a mixture of online and classroom delivery. Some of the content will be delivered online with the remaining involving either lectures/practicals/tutorials delivered at the LSAD Clare Street, Limerick.

What is Springboard+?
Springboard+ allows you to bring your career to the next level, learn new skills, enhance your existing skills and get the promotion or job you have always dreamed of.
Springboard+ provides free college courses for people who are unemployed, returning to the workforce, or were previously self-employed. If you are already working, you can also participate in a Springboard+ course by paying a small fee of 10% of the overall course fee.
Who is Eligible for Springboard+?
1. The unemployed or formerly self-employed All courses are open to these applicants, with the exception of the two year part-time ICT conversion courses which are not open to those in receipt of a Jobseeker related payment
2. Returners (Formerly known as Homemakers) May apply to all courses if they meet the nationality/visa requirement and residency criteria.
3. People in employment May apply to all courses if they meet the nationality/visa requirement and residency criteria.
Places will be provided free of charge to those participants from categories 1 & 2 above. Level 6 courses are free to all eligible participants. In the case of category 3, level 6 courses remain free, but a contribution of 10% of the cost of the place will be collected by the provider for level 7-9 courses, with the HEA funding 90% of the course fee.
