Education - School Guidance Counselling

This one year programme is designed to advance the professional development of School Guidance Counsellors and involves participation in regular research-support seminars and consultation with supervisors towards the completion of a thesis.

Entry requirements

Entry is restricted to applicants who have successfully completed all modules in the one-year Postgraduate Diploma in School Guidance and Counselling (PGDSGC) or equivalent.

This MEd SGC builds on the PGDSGC (Post Graduate Diploma in School Guidance and Counselling) and aims to advance school-based Guidance Counsellors' professional development.

We work to develop and critique the provision of education, and we provide a series of courses aimed at education professionals.

Course fee

In general, there are two levels of fees payable. EU students from EU countries including Ireland pay a subsidised level of fees for both taught courses and research programmes. Tuition fees for students from outside the EU are not subsidised and are thus somewhat higher than for EU students.
