Curriculumm Programme Development & Evaluation

Module Details
Curriculum/ Programme Development and Evaluation
Contemporary developments in Ireland in the areas of education and training require organisations and individuals to display innovation, flexibility and consistency in the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes.

An increased emphasis on accountability, value for money and performance management, coupled with awareness of the complementary nature of internal and external evaluation, requires schools and institutions to adopt a more formalised approach to auditing the curriculum than previously. It is, therefore, necessary for those responsible for curriculum management in the workplace to be familiar with the conceptual complexities of programme/ curriculum development and evaluation.

The module aims to enable participants to critically examine and explore relevant theories, models and current developments in curriculum/ programme development and evaluation, to gain an understanding of the key principles of educational design and to reflect in a critical and informed manner on theory and practice.
