Radiation Therapy Practice - Clinical Practice - Advanced

Course Details
This online education programme aims to develop studentsÂ’ knowledge and skills in the advanced radiation therapy management of cancer patients and to enable students to critically evaluate and participate in research in this area.

It is aimed at Radiotherapy professionals that:
- Are seeking to expand their career into Advanced Clinical Practice, Management or/and Research.

- Wish to work in an extended role in their department.

- Are returning to employment and may wish to update their knowledge on current evidence based practice.

Entry requirements

Admission Requirements
Applications will be accepted from those who:

- Hold an honours primary degree in Radiation Therapy, Medical Physics, Medicine or a related discipline; or otherwise satisfy the selection panel that they have the ability to complete and benefit from the course

- Evidence of relevant professional experience

- Be working in an area of radiation therapy for the duration of the course with access to radiation therapy planning software

- Have a fluent command of the English language. Students whose first language is not English must meet the University's English Language requirements.

The postgraduate certificate consists of 3 online modules completed over 12 months:
Imaging for advanced radiotherapy practice (10ECTs)
Delineation for radiotherapy planning (10 ECTs)
Advances in radiation therapy (10ECTs)

The postgraduate diploma consists of 6 online modules completed over 12 months:
Imaging for advanced radiotherapy practice (10ECTs)
Delineation for radiotherapy planning (10 ECTs)
Advances in radiation therapy (10ECTs)
Research Methods (10ECTs)
Health Services Management (10ECTs)
Radiobiological principles and practice (10ECTs)

The M.Sc consists of 6 taught modules and the completion of a Research Dissertation module (30 ECTs). The entry rout to the M.Sc involves completion of the P.Grad. Diploma followed by a transfer onto a top-up M.Sc year.
