Advertising & Digital Communication - Creative or Executive

The Postgraduate Diploma in Advertising and Digital Communication provides a broad insight to the Irish Advertising Industry, students gain a deep understanding of the operations of a communications agency, both internally and in its business context. The programme mirrors an authentic work environment - real briefs, real clients, all taught by a mixture of industry leaders and DIT academics, participants will be equipped with skills and knowledge that can be immediately applied, making them work and change ready

This innovative programme was created in response to meet the industry needs for skilled advertising professionals with the necessary knowledge to suceed in the ever evolving marketplace. The programme is dedicated to giving students a rigorous conceptual framework and a systematic knowledge and understanding of the issues that are the forefront of Advertising and Digital Communications theory and practice theory. It is divided into two streams – creative and executive, although both streams are integrated for certain core modules.

One of the key outcomes of the programme is the opportunity for students to showcase their potential, as successful advertising practioners to key figures in the advertising industry at the annual pitch night which takes place each November.

Who Should Apply?
This programme is delivered over two semesters. Both semesters are taught with a strong emphasis on a self directed learning. Delivery methods involve lectures from a unique mix of key industry practitioners and DIT academic staff.

The programme is divided into two streams – creative and executive, although both streams are integrated for certain core modules.

Entry requirements

Candidates applying for the Postgraduate Diploma in Advertising and Digital Communications must hold a minimum second class honours bachelor degree (2.2) or higher or equivalent third level qualification in any discipline.

Candidates pursuing the creative stream will have to demonstrate creativity at interview.

Duration

1 year part-time.

Timetable / Hours
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 6pm - 10pm. There are also 3 Saturday workshops in Semester One.

This is a part-time evening programme which runs from January to December in the academic year (with a Summer break) and delivered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm - 10pm.
