MSc Acupuncture provides education in traditional Chinese medicine that will equip the healthcare professional with the necessary skills to assess and treat a broad range of acute and chronic conditions.
- Participants will learn to assess and treat patients according to traditional Chinese medicine
- Credits gained can contribute towards the British Medical Acupuncture Society Diploma of Medical Acupuncture

The programme is open to those with a primary degree in Healthcare e.g. medicine, physiotherapy, and nursing.

The MSc Healthcare (Acupuncture) aims to develop Traditional Chinese Medicine theory and practice to internationally accepted standards in healthcare professionals. We value and encourage our students to be active, motivated and independent learners, who can stimulate scholarly research in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine. We also encourage our students to develop life-long learning and transferrable skills, including advanced interpersonal and communication skills. We aim to provide a learning environment that encourages students to develop their assessment and treatment skills to manage acute and chronic conditions. A range of teaching and learning approaches are utilized including, lectures, small group work, clinical cases and supervised clinical education placements. Discipline specific national and international experts deliver the programme.

-Display an advanced understanding of the theory and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine
-Be able to understand and integrate their learning into specialist clinical practice.
-Possess the necessary skills to diagnose and treat a broad range of acute and chronic conditions.
-Demonstrate an advanced level of clinical reasoning and critical analysis.
-Undertake a leadership role in initiating, conducting and reporting upon scholarly research in the area of Traditional Chinese Medicine
-Be competent in research methodology and critically evaluation of relevant literature
-Display a keen awareness of their professional responsibilities, including legal, ethical and cultural issues.
-Develop life-long learning and transferable skills (interpersonal and communication).
Comment
Upon successful completion of the taught modules a Postgraduate Diploma will be awarded. Upon successful completion of the research dissertation, the MSc will be awarded.
