The MSc in Digital Information Management was developed for people interested in how information is created, organised, accessed and maintained over time in organisations. Digital information management is not just about having the ability to execute technical functions- it requires an understanding of the technical, socio-cultural and economic issues associated with managing information over time in a digital world.

The master's degree combines core elements of digital preservation and curation as well as area-specific tracks with specialised modules to prepare you to work in different sectors. You will learn from academic and industry leaders in Ireland about how to manage "born digital" and digitised materials in a variety of formats including text, image, audio and video. You will explore the challenges of maintaining digital information and acquire the skills needed to liase with technologists about data storage and data management issues. You will have the opportunity to apply the skills you learn via a master's thesis or an internship.

This course was formerly the MSc in Digital Curation.

Career Opportunities:
Digital Information Management skills can be applied in a variety of fields and complements degrees in science, arts, business and law. The Masters aims to train future professionals on how to tackle the challenging issues in maintenance of digital information.

Almost one thousand international companies use Ireland as their European base including Google, Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, Yahoo, Apple, Adobe, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard and Intel.

The different tracks structure allow students to develop additional knowledge to specialise their digital information management learning for a specific setting. All three tracks include 35 credits of core modules that cover basic digital information management knowledge and skills.
