Programme Outcomes
This Professional Certificate covers all aspects of clinical dermatology with a comprehensive lecture schedule delivered by expert Consultant Dermatologists. Lectures will be delivered through an interactive webinar series and organised into relevant blocks. The lecture schedule will compromise 25 hours of webinar-based interactive teaching and assessment separated into 4 blocks of lectures to include.
Block 1:
Introduction to Dermatology: Molecular Biology of the Skin & Dermatological Terminology
Cutaneous Malignancy:
Melanocytic lesions & Melanoma
Non-melanoma skin cancers

Infectious Dermatoses:
Bacterial and parasitic infections;
Viral and fungal infections

Block 2:
Inflammatory Dermatoses Part 1:
Acne
Rosacea
Psoriasis
Other Papulosquamous disorders - (PRP, pitryiasis rosea, PLEVA, PLC, parapsoraisis CTCL); Atopic Dermatitis
Contact Dermatitis

Block 3:
Inflammatory Dermatoses Part 2:
Itch and urticaria
Lichenoid eruptions and vulvar dermatoses
Blistering Eruptions; Photobiology – lupus, photodermatoses, sunscreens; Drug reactions

Block 4:
Cutaneous manifestations of Systemic Disease
Cutaneous manifestations of systemic disease (to include)Neutrophilic dermatoses – Erythema nodosum, Sweets,
Pyoderma Gangrenosum, Behcets)
Vasculitis
Stasis Dermatitis and Ulcers
Scarring and nonscarring alopecias
Neonatal rashes and birthmarks

Entry requirements

Applicants must have a Medical degree from a recognised Irish or International Medical School (NFQ Level 8 or equivalent) and be licensed to practice Medicine by the Irish Medical Council in Ireland or an equivalent international licensing body.

Applicants participating in the optional clinical patient-based session will need to be Garda vetted.
