The remit of the Insight & Innovation (I&I) team is to ensure that all our channels to our consumers, both physical and digital, work in a seamless manner and drive continuous improvements in our customer experience, and by delivering a seamless shopping experience, we will enhance the ability of Musgrave to personalise the offer to our customers and subsequently drive sales.

To deliver this strategy we must deeply understand our customers, consumers and all our internal business functions and use data across Musgrave to delivery optimal outcomes.

The purpose of this role is to work as part of a Data & Analytics Team that delivers forward-looking high-quality data and analytics to support integrated and collaborative decision making.

This is an excellent opportunity for innovative and motivated people with excellent data science and analytics skills and an interest in working in the fast paced and dynamic FMCG industry.

The scope of the Data Science Graduate role comprises of a two-year experiential development programme as part of the Insights and Innovation department. The programme will allow the graduate gain wide experience right across the I&I department, with a particular focus on our Data and Analytics Strategy.

Key Activities

  • Developing a firm understanding of business operations and the associated data flows
  • Working closely with colleagues on the Data Science Team and the Platform & Engineering Team to ensure our data is structured appropriately, of good quality, accessible and continuously improving
  • Broadening the company’s data sources with open source and market data, working with IT to build systems to support this process
  • Working with the key brand and commercial teams to aid and lead data-driven decision making through advanced and actionable analytics
  • Extracting, cleansing, blending and processing data used for analysis and data science
  • Creating innovative solutions to complex business problems, from proof of concept and experimentation stages through to production-ready deployment
  • Applying modern analytics skills and methodologies including machine learning, advanced analytics, geospatial analytics, correlation and driver analysis etc.
  • Communicating the findings simply through effective storytelling to stakeholders
  • Educating the business on the value of data and the associated tools and techniques used to create value from the data e.g., developing data literacy
  • Simplifying and automating existing process and reporting
  • Ensuring appropriate best practice governance systems and internal controls are implemented maintained and reported on in line with GDPR requirements
  • Supporting on ad-hoc analysis and cross functional projects as required
  • Translating data into insight and communicate it effectively with non-data scientists
  • Working with colleagues and customers to ensure appropriate adoption of new data science tools and resources.

This is a hybrid role with time spent in the office for connecting, collaborating, innovating, and learning, with the flexibility for remote working. Time in the office will vary by team, typically it is 1-2 days a week with the remainder of the time spent remote working.

This role will work with teams across the business in Cork, Dublin and Belfast.


Starting salary is €29,000 and increases to €31,500 after 12 months subject to performance. Your salary when moving into a role on completion of the Programme will be commensurate with the market and experience.
