Portwest Graduate Programme 2024

Applications are now being accepted for the Portwest Graduate Programme 2024. This is a 2-year structured programme which aims to develop your technical and leadership skills so that you can #ReachYourPeak. You will work in one of our dynamic departments. No department is a silo though, we start your journey with cross-functional projects which develops your understanding of how our interlinked departments work at Portwest. Once completed, you will join one of our departments and begin the development of your technical skills. You will then have the opportunity to be seconded to another department for a number of months, again to help with your holistic knowledge of the business so you can be as effective as possible in your particular role. For some Associates on the Graduate Programme, they may have the opportunity to work overseas in one of our many distribution sites for up to a year. This will depend on the business needs at the time and it represents an exciting developmental opportunity. So, as you can see, this is a broad programme offering you the chance to kickstart your career.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

For Portwest, our Graduate Programme Associates are our future leaders. As well as receiving well-rounded experience across a number of departments, you will also participate in a structured training programme which will develop your leadership, communication, teamwork and motivational skills. Allied to this, you will part-take in technical training that will develop your skills in your specialist discipline which sets you up for success.

GRADUATE PROGRAMME TEAM

The Commercial team is responsible for driving sales growth. We are the HQ point of contact for our global sales team, working closely with them to support customer growth & identify opportunities to expand and grow sales in their markets. We work alongside all HQ departments to achieve this. The Commercial team need to have a deep understanding of each market, the market needs & the overall company strategy.

To #ReachYourPeak in the Commercial team you will need to demonstrate a passion for business and show a strong commercial acumen. Associates joining the Commerical team may get the opportunity to work at one of our international sites during the 2-year Portwest Graduate Programme subject to business needs.

WHAT YOU NEED

• Graduated, or due to graduate, from a degree programme from 2022-2024
• Interested in working in a leadership role within a distribution/warehouse environment
• Open to working internationally for Portwest, however, working internationally can not be guaranteed
• Ability to demonstrate leadership capabilities
• Strong commercial acumen
• A passion for learning new skills
• Comfortable within an ever-changing, dynamic environment

HOW THE PROCESS WILL WORK

Successful candidates at screening stage will be invited to an assessment centre taking place on Friday 10th November in our HQ in Westport, Co.Mayo, where you will have the opportunity to demonstrate the skills and values that we are looking for.
