Project Engineer - Value Stream Machinery

Job Description

This is a new and key role within the company to project manage and drive the development of a fabrication service necessary to meet the strategy for adding value to core contracts.

This position will involve leading the development of an in-house fabrication facility for the production of steel support components for food/packaging machinery. The successful applicant will spearhead the new bespoke engineering fabrication service for the company.

Key duties will include:

• Providing design and manufacturing input for VSMs own existing products and contribute to VSMs new product development.
• Production of engineering 3D models, working drawings and mechanical assessments to assist in the manufacture of the product and its individual components.
• Undertaking value engineering to ensure the resulting design is economical in terms of manufacturing.
• Participating in machinery trial tests and, if required, make key design changes to in a bid to further improve the machines design based on the learnings.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Atlantic Technological University Sligo (previously ITSligo) and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.

Essential Criteria:

• Min Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic Engineering or other relevant discipline.
• Min of 2 years manufacturing or project management experience.
• Man-management experience

Desirable Criteria:

• Masters Degree in a relevant discipline
• Good understanding of mechanical and/or mechatronic machine design.
• Good understanding of CE Marking.
• Good understanding of quality in a manufacturing environment.
• Formal project management training
• Six signa/lean manufacturing training.
